Step 4

Fitness Assessment

Step 1

Choose a Trainer

To get the most out of your new training program, we encourage you to be consistent with your sessions. We want you to see results, which means at least two to three training sessions per week, in-gym or on your own.
Did you know about our fitness classes? We offer metabolic and hardstyle kettlebell classes. When you’re ready, we encourage you to check them out here.

BEcome a Member

Your initial training session is a personalised fitness assessment because understanding how you currently use your body is crucial in designing a training program catered to YOUR goals. Your trainer will use the results of your fitness assessment combined with your personal goals from the consultation to design your individualized training program.

We complete our fitness assessments at regular intervals to help evaluate your progress and hold our programs accountable.

Step 5

Hit the Gym!

Our team is comprised of two personal trainers – Guy,and Sasha each have their own unique training story. Read their stories and contact (via email) whomever you would like to set up your complimentary consultation with, they will be in touch within 24 hours. (Don’t worry, we’re a team here at True North Strength and Fitness so this will not limit who you can work with; it simply enables us to provide you with the best introduction to your fitness journey possible).

Step 2

Consultation

Schedule

Our training schedule, metabolic and kettlebell class schedules are all available here.

Come on in! This is your chance to see the where the sweaty magic happens. We will take you on a tour of our facility and sit down to discuss your training and general health history (including any past injuries), as well as your specific goals. We will also share the "Ins and Outs" of our community with you (membership options, billing, policies, scheduling) and we’ll take you through our various apps that allow for the online scheduling and training. The consultation will take 45-60 minutes depending on questions, and if you decide to join our community we can get you set up before you leave.
Time to fill out your paperwork and get your training schedule, using the online scheduling app through MINDBODY set-up. This is what will allow you to access your training schedule to cancel or schedule upcoming sessions, and to update any personal information. Prior to your fitness assessment, you will receive a “Welcome Email” inviting you to set up your account with our online scheduling app, Trainerize. Follow the prompts and make sure you have everything set up prior to your first session.

Step 6

Be Consistent

Are you interested in becoming a member of True North Strength and Fitness? Great! We have set out a step by step guide outlining what you can expect and how to get started on your fitness journey with us!

Step 7

Join a Fitness Class!

It’s time to hit the gym! You now have everything you need to get your fitness journey started. During your first full workout, your trainer will take you through some form of self-myofascial release (aka foam rolling), introduce you to a warm-up and then walk you through your training program for the next four to six weeks. During this session your trainer will also show you how to track your workouts so that you can become an active participant in your programming.

The first week of your training program is typically considered an offload week as you will be focused on learning the workouts, but don’t worry, it gets progressively harder, and rest assured: by week four or six, you will be looking forward to the next "Week One".
